Behind the Scenes with Seventh Wonder: How Australia’s Greatest Fleetwood Mac Show Comes to Life

Sep 15, 2025

From the outside, a Seventh Wonder Performs Fleetwood Mac show might look effortless: the seamless harmonies, the slick lighting, the soaring notes that bring thousands of fans to their feet. But behind every one of those goosebump moments lies a world of planning, precision, pressure — and passion.
Whether it’s a sold-out theatre in Sydney or a festival stage in New Zealand, this is a production machine that doesn’t just play music. It builds an emotional journey that honours Fleetwood Mac’s legacy in every beat, breath, and chord.
So what really goes on before the lights go down and The Chain kicks in?
Let’s pull back the curtain.
Planning the Show: Every Detail Mattered Yesterday
Seventh Wonder doesn’t just rock up with a setlist and wing it.
Each show — whether it’s in Adelaide, Auckland, or Alice Springs — is mapped out months in advance. Logistics, tech specs, sound plots, lighting cues, venue acoustics, travel timing, hotel locations, van hire, local promotion — all of it matters.
The show is run by Behind Pty Ltd, the company co-founded by performer/producer James Morley (ex-The Angels) and powerhouse vocalist Bloom. Alongside a tight production crew, they plan every detail of the touring schedule like it’s military-grade ops.
“You can’t deliver a world-class concert without world-class logistics,” says Morley.
“We’ve missed planes, slept in vans, and hauled gear up four flights of stairs — but the audience never sees any of that. They just get magic.”
Soundcheck: Not a Warm-Up — A Ritual
Hours before the doors open, the band rolls into the venue and starts loading in. Guitars are tuned. Cables laid. Drums mic’d.
And then comes soundcheck.
This isn’t just to check levels. It’s to get in sync, mentally and musically. Because Fleetwood Mac’s sound is deceptively complex — layered vocals, dynamic swells, subtle rhythms. If even one element is off, the emotional power of the music gets lost.
That’s why Seventh Wonder’s soundcheck feels more like a sacred ritual.
Bloom might run through Dreams twice just to lock in her breath control for that night’s room. Morley will tweak guitar tones down to the subtlest mid-EQ frequencies to perfectly match Lindsey Buckingham’s 1977 rig.
The band doesn’t stop until it feels right.
The Cast: Who Makes the Magic?
The show’s cast is hand-picked. This isn’t a freelance jam band. This is a team of top-tier, professional musicians who know the music inside and out — and bring their own energy to it.
Bloom: A voice as haunting as Stevie Nicks, but with her own soul and strength. She doesn’t impersonate. She channels.
The Rhythm Section: A machine. They recreate the Mick Fleetwood/John McVie groove with frightening precision.
Backing Vocalists: Often under-appreciated, but these voices are the glue. When they hit that final “Go Your Own Way” harmony together? Electric.
Keyboardist: Quietly recreating the elegant spirit of Christine McVie every night — from the shimmer of Everywhere to the hush of Songbird.
Together, they aren’t pretending to be Fleetwood Mac. They’re recreating the feeling, the sound, and the magic — live.
The Setlist: Engineered for Emotion
Fleetwood Mac’s catalogue is stacked with emotional landmines, so the setlist has to breathe. It can’t just be a jukebox — it needs shape.
That’s why Seventh Wonder’s shows are paced like a cinematic experience.
🎵 You open with impact: The Chain or Rhiannon
🎵 You rise into crowd-pleasers: Don’t Stop, Go Your Own Way
🎵 You pause to cry: Songbird, Landslide
🎵 You unleash drama: Silver Springs or Tusk
🎵 You close with fire: Dreams, Gypsy, World Turning
The band crafts each show for the specific audience — whether they’re playing to Fleetwood Mac diehards or a broader cross-generational crowd.
Stagecraft: Creating a World, Not Just a Gig
Fleetwood Mac were more than a band. They were an atmosphere. A vibe. A world.
So the Seventh Wonder team works hard to recreate that visually as well.
Warm, dramatic lighting that changes with each emotional tone
Moody spotlight fades for Bloom’s entrances
Vintage aesthetics — not cheesy, but tasteful nods to Mac’s 70s and 80s eras
Seamless transitions between songs with zero dead air
Nothing is accidental. Every second is crafted to pull you deeper into the music.
Post-Show: From Highs to Hotel Hallways
When the final chord rings out and the standing ovation dies down, the work is far from over.
The crew starts pack-down. Guitars cased. Lights dimmed. Merch tables folded. Everyone’s sweaty, tired, and slightly deaf — but glowing.
They head back to the hotel (or sometimes, a van for a long-haul drive). They might eat together. Watch show footage. Or sit in silence, decompressing from the emotional high.
And then? They do it all again the next night — in a new city, a new theatre, with a whole new set of strangers ready to fall in love with Fleetwood Mac all over again.
“It’s exhausting. It’s insane. It’s worth every second,” Bloom says.
Why It Matters: This Is Legacy in Action
Fleetwood Mac changed the world. Their music helped people survive heartbreak, find themselves, and celebrate life’s biggest moments.
And while the band may never tour again in full — Seventh Wonder keeps that legacy alive, one packed theatre at a time.
These behind-the-scenes moments aren’t glamorous. They’re gritty. But they’re also full of love.
Love for the music.
Love for the fans.
Love for the rare opportunity to recreate something sacred.
